How to organize yourself competently

I think everyone is perfectly familiar with the state when there are a lot of things that require attention and concentration, but there is simply no strength to tackle them. It remains only to sit unsatisfied with yourself while work is accumulating. But there are others among us, those whom I have always looked at with admiration and a slight degree of envy. Namely, people organized who are able to work focused. Nobody drove them, nobody watched – it was all about self-organization. What is their secret? Everything turned out to be much simpler than I thought.

1. Plan your time clearly

Are there things that need to be completed in a certain time frame? Plan how you do it and how much time is needed for each case. If the deadline has already thoroughly crept up behind, try to plan every hour or even every half hour of your time.

Let me show you in my own example: I have a to-do list for the week that needs to be completed. I divide affairs into days in which I would be comfortable to carry them out and move according to the worked-out scheme. In my case, it gave a good result: things are done on time, but at the same time there is time for rest.

2. Start with challenging tasks.

If we talk about the ability to carry out their tasks in any convenient sequence, it is necessary to start with the biggest, voluminous, and difficult business.

3. Give yourself time to relax

One of the most important principles, which indirectly refers to the first paragraph. Plan the time that will be allocated to work: 1, 2, 3 hours, during which you will work without distractions. Close messengers, social networks, windows (if necessary). To the maximum, isolate yourself from everything except deeds. As soon as the time allotted for work expires, you will go to rest with a calm soul.

4. Do not go work – do anything

Stalled and tired of working, but not yet fulfilled the plan? Take a break and relax. Just remember that relaxing does not mean surfing social networks or mail. Rest means total relaxation.

Also, a good alternative could be just a change of occupation. Yes, it happens that the task is tired and you don’t feel like doing it at all, then you can start to do another.

5. Workplace order

The desktop and computer fully reflect internal integrity. Therefore, it is important and necessary to always keep them in order.

6. Less coffee and energy

Everyone, including myself, was used to drinking coffee in liters, hoping to cheer up. Do not do this! Numerous studies have been carried out, proving that coffee significantly reduces working capacity and concentration. You can check for yourself – try to give up this drink for at least a week and analyze the results.

Where to get motivation

We have already figured out how to organize ourselves and tune in to work. Another question arises: where to get the motivation to do the job?

1. Introduce your future

Let’s say the work is already done. What will you do next? Maybe you have what you would like to do, and outstanding work is the only obstacle to what you want? This is the first incentive to action.

2. Work = game

Turn a specific task into a quest. For example, earn points for each completed item. And when a certain amount of points is gained, reward yourself. The encouragement can be either small: a cup of coffee, going to the cinema, or significant: mini-vacation, a trip out of town. It all depends on the amount of work done and the dose of motivation that you need.

3. Envy is the best motivator

Here, I do not mean blind black envy, but I am talking about that kind of envy that pushes toward the goal. For example, when you ask yourself: “Why am I worse? Why do I think I cannot do the same? ” Healthy competition is always cool and useful, it helps to achieve stunning success and surpass the one with whom you are mentally competing.

4. Inspire yourself

Colleagues, competitors, or simply geniuses in their field – all of them can inspire you to fly at full speed to work. These people may not be directly related to the business you are involved in, but they are able to give you the necessary impetus. Observe their work, how they live, how much they get up, what their value system is. So you can learn a lot for yourself and return to work with renewed vigor.

5. Own development as an incentive

What will I learn by doing this job? What will she give me? – It is these issues that will help you act consciously and appreciate the business you are doing. Every day, raise the bar a little and gain at least one small victory.

I have listed the basic principles that guide me in my work. As for motivation, then everything is not so simple. Many articles describe in detail how it is needed and that any business without it is meaningless. Is that so?

In general, motivation is a fickle thing. Not always you will enjoy the work, sometimes you will have to face tasks that will not appeal to you. I, like all people, also come across a desire to be lazy and make a fool of myself. But there is still such a thing as willpower – it is it that should be lifted from the couch and forced to work in the name of one’s own goals. The main thing is to clearly understand what global goal you are pursuing when doing this or that job, and why you need it.
